Blog 29: Last Blog and day overseas: Trip to Singapore

Today is the last day of our wonderful holiday. Tonight we head home on a 7 hour flight to Melbourne. Ready to come home now, we are really exhausting. Who would have thought traveling could be so exhausting 😂😂 especially if you don’t sleep on planes.

Today we went to the beautiful Singapore zoo. The humidity today was really high so it was tough at times. The zoo Really is exceptional, the size of the enclosures the animals were in were perfect and you are so close to the animals.  Some aren’t enclosed with walls unlike some animals are in Melbourne. Really impressed by the zoo, we could have stayed there much longer in all honesty but the tour bus had to come back. After this we went back to the hotel and after some rest back to the hotel.

Blog 28- Trip to Singapore: Day one

After two 7 hour flights in a row we arrived in Singapore and sadly we got no sleep and I was really struggling during the day in Singapore during the city tour. We arrived at our accomodation which is exceptional. We then went on the city tour, This tour took us to some hotspots around the city. In all honesty I really struggled during this tour with the lack of sleep I had. It was interesting learning about the culture of the country.

After the tour we had showers and then tea and I had a beautiful non spicy curry. And then we went to the beautiful gardens by the bay. This was the most beautiful thing I have seen In quite some time, I was mind blown by this I was not expecting what I saw which involved music 🎶

After that we got much needed sleep!

 

Blog 27- Return to the UK. Airline losing my baggage.

I wasn’t going to write a blog today but here I am. Today I experienced something I don’t want to experience again, the airline losing my luggage. There’s not much you can do about it but it’s still quite disappointing. I’m hoping that they can find the luggage and send it to me, but there is an issue I’m going from Doncaster to Manchester tomorrow and so once they hopefully find the luggage it will be an unknown to where they send it. But I do need the luggage, luckily I do have some light clothes for Singapore coming up but I’d rather know where my stuff is.

Today’s airport at Paris was the biggest airport I have ever seen, it beats Los Angeles airport that I saw back in 2015. This one required a 2 trains within the airport area to get where we needed to be!

Tomorrow there won’t be a blog as we are off to Manchester at night in preparation for our final leg to singapore before on our way home.

Blog 26- Trip to Paris: Day 3

Blog 25- Trip to Paris days 1 and 2

So we finally arrived in Paris, but in all honesty I haven’t enjoyed Paris as much as the other destinations. The area we are staying at isn’t great and language barrier is a big challenge.

1st day we arrived in the afternoon after being on the amazing Eurostar that travels at 300km/h except through the tunnel which goes 72 metres below sea level at 160km/h per hour.  We then just walked around there are many cafes in Paris is what I noticed. We then arrived at hotel and had lunch and met up with my cousin and his girlfriend and had dinner.

2nd day we got up reasonably early again and then went to the Louvre where the Mona Lisa is held, the art in there was amazing but I’m not a huge fan of art. We then walked over to the famous Notre Dome and then came back to hotel for a period before going out for dinner.

Tomorrow off to the Eiffel Tower!

Blog 24- Trip to London:Day 4

Today another really busy day in London. The day started off leaving at 830 for our first stop Tower of London and the London Bridge, quite the view from the distance in particular. We got there a little late as there was a signal fault. And had to walk from a stop earlier although it wasn’t a long walk. The underground train system has been fantastic for us to view the attractions we have seen during our stay in London.

We then moved onto the beautiful St Paul’s cathedral before going onto the famous Madame Tussauds of where the wax mueseum of almost identical lookalikes of celebrities that was quite remarkable but what annoyed me here was the over an hour wait and it wasn’t the wait time exactly it was there was only 1 or 2 staff members working at the ticket booth for such a popular tourist attraction.

After that we rushed to the Novelle theatre for the Mumma Mia musical which was fantastic as I had never been to once before. That lasted about 2 hours 30 minutes(including the 15 minute break). Hats off to all the cast and crew they were amazing.

After that exhausting day we went back to Kings cross station on an unbelievably packed train where we bumped into the famous 9 and 3/4 platform famous in the Harry Potter books and films. Tomorrow we are off to Paris!

 

Blog 23: Trip to London- Day 3

Wow what can I say about today, it was astonishing. Today we went to the Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guards, it was so surreal. It was one of the most unbelievable thing I have experienced. It was a long wait as we had to get there early to get a great view of which we did. After the 1 hour 45 min wait it began and it was brilliant it lasted about 45 minutes in a very confined space as the crowd was huge. After that we went on the underground and had lunch at taverns near Lords cricket ground before we had the tour of the amazing cricket ground where we went in the England and visitors change rooms, where they have lunch and tea, the media room for all the journalists and commentators and also went to ground seating at the ground.

After that we went back to the hotel as it been a long day and had done plenty of walking and standing today. Tomorrow we have plenty more to do.

Blog 22: Trip to London- Day 2

What an experience we are having over here in the UK. Today started with getting our train tickets for the famous under water train trip to Paris on Friday before we went to get our Oyster cards(like our MYKI cards) to travel into the heart of London CBD. Once we got those we went on the underground train from Kings cross to Leicester square train station of where we walked around and stopped at Westminster abby(amazing), London eye(amazing), parliament sqand saw only a bit of Big Ben because it’s being renovated and not being completed until 2021. We have been walking a lot around that area today which involved passing Trafalgar square( no we are not playing monopoly 😂😂).

Tomorrow we plan to go to Lords, change of the guards at Buckingham palace and maybe the wax mueseum near Westminster. Also saw a British Library today! 

Blog 21: Arrival in London

Today we arrived in London, however because of the flight time we were unable to do any touring but just put in the luggage in our hotel and then get some tea before doing some planning for the next few days in the London city. The day began us packing up our gear. We then arrived at airport to then find out our flight was delayed by about 40 minutes due to high winds, once we did leave it was quite a turbulent flight of which I didn’t like.

Once we eventually arrived we got the train from the station to St Pancras station of where it was extremely busy before heading to the hotel.

Big few days ahead.

Blog 20- Trip to Scotland: Edinburgh day 2

Today was miserable: Cold, wet and windy. So today we decided today would be our rest day as we have extremely busy time in London and Paris. We still spent 6 hours in the city walking in and out of the shops and around the gardens.

Day ended up being in Cafes to keep warm too. Day ended up with a great meal as they have been the entire trip. The one thing I have noticed is there is a lot of homeless people in Ireland and Scotland which is sad to see. Another thing in the UK is there have been plenty of squirrels.

Tomorow off to the big city: London.
